Large Antique Oak Document Box with Metal Fastenings and Key

A large antique document box with lock and key. This box is solid oak with brown 18th century metal studs and handles on the sides and top. The piece was possibly used as a letter holder at one point. The construction of the box includes rawhide and sinew which is formed by soaking the wood, bending it around a form, and stitching it with rawhide and sinew. The key is not antique nor orginal to the box and does not fit in the key hole.
