An original oil painting on stretched canvas by American abstract painter Edger Yaeger (1904-1997). The painting illustrates a flared vase with blue and white flowers against a mottled background in the same palette. Signed to the lower right corner, the painting is housed in a wide, pale gray wooden frame.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
