A Kenyan carved wooden sculpture. This stained and carved wood piece features the exaggerated faces of two different figures with geometric details. A piece of string is present to the verso for hanging purposes.

The African art pieces in this sale were acquired by the previous owner while living in rural Kenya in the 1960s and 1970s. The collector admired the art of Wakamba artisans and loved supporting their work. His admiration eventually spread to the work of artisans from throughout the continent.

Condition

- chip to reverse; minor surface scratches, side piece was previously broken off.
