Wood and Metal Steamer Trunk

Item Details

A large, antique steamer trunk. The trunk is made of olive green painted metal with horizontal wood slats on the lid and the sides. The trunk has metal edge and corner protectors with rivets, and the front is fitted with a lock and two metal clasps. The clasps are marked with the number ‘4’. Thje interior is wood, with a paper covering. No other maker’s marks.

Condition

- surface wear and areas of water stain, looks like lacquer has worn off, fabric interior has pulled off in areas; missing original leather handles
- some metal pieces have become separated, but are included
- rope handles on sides not original to trunk
- no key
