Handmade String Instruments Including Dayak Sapek From Indonesia

A pair of handmade and hand-painted stringed instruments. This selection includes a sapek, the traditional instrument of the Dayak people of Kalimantan in Indonesia. This long, wooden instrument has a hollow back and is meant to be plucked. It is painted off-white with a black and red spiraling design. Also included is a handmade banjo with a square steel resonator box and a wooden neck. This piece is brightly painted with geometric motfis and stylized figures.
Condition
- sapek has loose strings and is stained and scuffed throughout; some chipping to sapek paint; banjo is missing one tuning peg and the resonator box is dented in the back.
