Item Details
A Maori carved taonga puoro embellished with feathers. This horn is one version of a series of instruments that are part of the sounding tradition of the Maori people. It appears to be carved from a single piece of wood and has carved designs that echo Maori art. The mouthpiece end is wrapped with braided fiber and with feathers as is the sound hole end. These two sections are joined by a long piece of braided fiber that can act as a strap to carry the instrument. This taonga puoro comes with a custom carved display cradle. Both piece are unmarked.
