Francisco de Goya Fifth Edition Aquatint Etching on Paper "Porque Esconderlos?"

A fifth edition aquatint etching on paper titled Porque Esconderlos? (Why hide them?) from the Los Caprichos series after well-listed Spanish artist Francisco de Goya y Lucientes (1746 – 1828). This edition was printed during 1881. This print depicts a distressed elderly man clutching onto a two bags of money. A group of people surrounds him each figure is smiling joviality. This print is unsigned by the artist however, the plate number ‘30’ is located to the upper right. The titled have been printed below the image. An illegible graphite inscription is present under the matting. To the verso, is a document of authentication from A.B. Closson JR. Co. Present behind glass in under a white mat within a black wooden frame.

- light damage is present to the print from the mat window.
