Allan Rohan Crite Hand Colored Linocut "Station of the Cross Pieta"

A hand painted linocut on paper titled Station of the Cross Pieta from a series of 14 prints by Allan Rohan Crite (American, 1910 – 2007), dated c. 1947. This print depicts the movement after Christ descent from the cross laying in Mary’s arms. Mounted under a layer of blue matting, the print is presented in a gold tone wood frame with a gold tone fillet and cream liner. A wire of hanging purposes and two decals with the name of the piece, artist, name, and the medium are present to the verso. Crite is best known for his prints and paintings depicting African-American life.
