Item Details
A mixed media on canvas diptych by contemporary artist Denyse Wilhelm. This piece features an abstract composition rendered with acrylic paint and fibrous material. Depicted is an abstract composition portrayed in hues of blue, red, and yellow. The painting is signed and titled to the verso of the canvas.
Denyse Marie Wilhelm’s painting career has been a celebration of color. Wilhelm earned her Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and a Bachelors of Arts in Art History. She also holds a Masters of Science from Boston University in rehabilitation counseling and is currently employed at Wheaton College as Associate Dean of Studies and Advisor to International Students. For Wilhelm, color creates a universal language. Nature provides the imagery with which Wilhelm distils her language of color. Whether representational or abstraction, the natural cycles of life inform Wilhelm’s color infusions on a canvas. Wilhelm is an elected member of the Artist League of Rhode Island and the Cape Cod Printmakers Association and has taught art history and studio arts at Bristol Community College, the ACI penitentiary through the Community College of Rhode Island education program and at Norton Institute for Continuing Education through Wheaton College. She has exhibited extensively in the Northeast and has won awards from the Mystic Art Association, The Providence Art Club and the Fuller Arts and Crafts Museum.
