Item Details

An antique Ernst Leitz Wetzlar microscope. This brass microscope comes in a wooden chest with a carrying handle, a hinged door with a key, and internal dividers which fit around the base and eyepiece of the microscope for stability. A plaque inside the case reads ‘Dr. Thatcher M.D.V.S. Veterinarian, El Paso Texas.’ One of the three objective lenses is marked ‘6 E. Leitz Wetzlar’ and the base is marked ‘E. Leitz Wetzlar No. 27839’; this serial number indicates a manufacturing date of 1893.
