An oil painting on panel titled The River’s Edge by artist Mark Gingerich (Ohio b. 1962). Created in 2007, the work depicts a tranquil and placid scene with painterly applications of pastel color. Signed to the lower right corner; signed, titled, dated, and dedicated ‘to the glory of God’ the verso. Presented in an intentionally cratered wood frame with a shallow cove, without glass.
A self-proclaimed American Impressionist and plen-air enthusiast, Gingerich is best known for his rural landscapes. Born in West Germany, he emigrated to the United States during his childhood. While receiving some formal art education in high school, Gingerich studied painting primarily through copying masterworks and contemporary plen-air artists. He has won numerous awards in his artistic career from the Ohio Plen Air Society and the American Impressionist Society. Many of his works can be found in private collections.
