An oil painting on board titled The Charmer by Michigan artist Christine Marcus Stone. Created in 2007, the work depicts the delightful face of a young cow in painterly strokes. Signed to the lower right corner as well as signed, titled, and dated on a label to the verso. Presented without glass in a black cove frame with copper-tone bead running ornaments.
Stone is perhaps best-known for her realistic renderings of animals. She received her formal art training at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia. Her creative method utilizes paintings based off of photographs and sketches from life. Corporate commissions include Anheuser Busch, Inc., United States Horse Shows Association, and Clydesdale Breeders of the United States. Today, her work can be found in The International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington, Kentucky; the Michigan State Museum in Lansing, Michigan; and numerous private collections.
