1995 Theodore Gall Surrealist Bronze Sculpture
Item Details
A 1995 Surrealist bronze sculpture by American sculptor Theodore Gall (1941-). The allegorical work depicts a male figure who stands through a narrow canoe, supported by hooks to a metal band across his chest. His face is covered by a thin mask with ties flying behind, as other masks sit, tangled, within the boat. It is signed ‘T. Gall 95’ along the base in the mold. The work is presented upon a travertine base, enforced with wood below. Please see link under Additional Information for artist website.
Theodore Gall began his career in the 1960s after studying at the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art. He works in the lost wax method and his smaller sculptures are one of a kind. He has exhibited across the country and his work is included in both private and corporate collections.
