Art Nouveau Fainting Couch

Item Details

An Art Nouveau fainting couch. This piece is constructed from walnut and features an exposed frame with intricately carved acanthus leaf motifs throughout. Its undulating asymmetrical back wraps around behind the two white seat cushions on a serpentine base with eight carved cabriole feet. The tag underneath states this piece was renovated by John Bumgarner of Columbus, Ohio.

Condition

Consistent with age; upholstery is discolored to left side of seat and back; stitching fraying slightly at edges of rear panels; frame has some cracks which have been repaired with metal braces to reverse
