A watercolor on paper titled Roman Sunflowers by Italian artist Pia Messina. This painting depicts a field of stylized roman sunflowers in a vibrant yellow juxtaposed their green leaves. This piece is signed to the lower right corner in graphite and to the verso where it is also titled. Presented behind glass in a metal silver frame.
Pia Messina was born in Turin, Italy and began painting china which she learned from her grandmother. Some years later after moving to the United States with her family, Messina began studying at the National Academy of Design, Art Students League, Parson School of Design, in New York. She has had several solo shows in Washington state galleries such as the Interior Art Gallery, Kirkland Wa, Farfalla Gallery, Seattle WA, and Tolles Gallery, Mercer Island WA, to name a few.
