Nancy Milburn Kleck Oil Painting on Canvas Portrait of Pat Day

An oil painting on canvas portrait of Pat Day by New Orleans artist Nancy Milburn Kleck, created in 1994. This painting depicts Pat Day wearing a purple jersey and holding a riding crop and reigns in his hand. This piece is signed and dated to the lower left corner and is housed without glass in a gray painted wooden frame. Pat Day is a now retired and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame during 1991.

Nancy Milburn Kleck was born and raised in New Orleans and has always admired horses. After college Kleck lived in New York, Boston and Saratoga Springs always tried to stay close to the race track. While working in public relations office at Sotheby’s in New York Kleck was given a glimps at sporting art. During 1985 she moved to Kentucky to pursue a career as a portrait painting and recieved her first commission to paint the thoroughbred racehorse Nashua in 1989. Aside from painting Kleck also created photographs of fox hunting as well as point-to-points and steeplechase races. Kleck’s work has been published in the Covertside, Fall 2013 Issue and used as the cover of the 2001 summer issue of Keeneland Magazine . Two of her worked were published in the book Notable North American Thoroughbreds.
