Item Details

A Civil War era 1851 pattern officer’s belt plate. This American military belt plate features a curved, cast brass Federal sword belt plate form, regulation 1851. The design bears an eagle at the center and ‘E Pluribus Unum’ inscription on the banner with applied nickle-silver wreath below. The pattern variety is referenced in American Military Belt Plates by O’Donnell & Campbell, Plate 623. The belt plate is accompanied by a hand written note of provenance.
