An original oil painting on stretched canvas simply titled __ Landscape_ by American modernist Edgar Yeager (Detroit, Michigan 1904-1997). The landscape expressively illustrates a lush green forest with a layered rock cliff in the center of the composition. The artist’s signature is found in the lower right corner and the painting has been professionally presented in a beautiful wood frame with carved detailing at the edge. The gallery label remains affixed to the back of the painting providing the title of the painting and the date, 1937.
Edgar Yeager is credited for being one of the first American modernists. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and studied under Robert A. Herzberg at the Detroit School of Fine and Applied Arts. His work has been exhibited from coast to coast and can be found in many prestigious collections and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art.
