1930s Reliance Disney Enamel on Glass Pictures of Goofy and Horace Horsecollar

A pair of framed enamel-on-glass pictures of Walt Disney characters, produced by the Reliance Picture Frame Company circa the 1930s. This collection includes a picture of ‘The Goof’ (i.e. Goofy) in red against a cream background and a picture of Horace Horsecollar in black against a green background. Both pictures are marked at the lower right ‘Reliance – © Walt Disney,’ and the cardboard backing of each frame reads, in part, ‘D-110; Walt Disney Characters; In colored enamels right on the glass; Mickey Mouse and his Pals of the famous Silly Symphonies are always ready to brighten your home. Reliance and Walt Disney have collaborated to give you the best poses and scenes in the most colorful form of reproduction (hand processed enamels right on the glass) and the delightful antics of those characters are now preserved for you forever, just as they are in many art museums, as examples of the Disney Art.’

- imperfections to enamel visible on Horace Horsecollar picture; chip to bottom right corner of Goof frame; general wear to frames consistent with age; backings loose; minor edge wear to enamel visible on back, but not from front.
