Item Details
An English-Civil-War-themed figural chess set by Studio Anne Carlton, including a brown and white wooden board and a complete set of chessmen. The white king is modeled after Charles the First and the dark brown king after Oliver Cromwell, with each side’s other chessmen following the same theme; for instance, the white bishops depict Anglican bishops. The chessmen are presented in their original contoured tray packaging; the box is marked ‘Hand made by the craftsmen of SAC Ltd. at Studio Anne Carlton Hull HU3 4NB England.’
