A framed gold foil world map. The map is a reproduction and is titled Nova Totivs Terrarvm Orbis Geographica ac Hydrographica Tabvla. In the corner is written Auct Henr Hondio who produced the original map. The map features a picture of Caesar who ‘helped define geographical boundries of his era’ in the top left, Claude Ptolomaeus who ‘proved the earth is round’ in the top right, Gerard Mercator who charted the oceans on the bottom left and bottom right features a picture of Ludvic Hondius, the map maker’s brother.

Condition

The map shows some wear and sections where the gold foil has become slightly wrinkled.
