A numbered porcelain American Avocet figurine by Boehm. This piece, style number 40134, is Issue Number 289. This elegant statuette depicts a long legged bird balanced on one leg. It is marked and numbered by the maker to underside. Boehm Porcelain was started by Edward Marshall Boehm (1913-1969), an American sculptor most known for the porcelain birds and wildlife sculptures he created, promoted by his equally well-known spouse, Helen Boehm. Together, the two founded E.M. Boehm Studios. Works created in the studio are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the studio is known for its fine and elegant sculptural work owned by museums, royalty and celebrities worldwide.
