An acrylic painting on canvas titled Rockport Harbor by contemporary artist George Anderson (Massachusets, b. 1931), created in 2000. This painting depicts a marina with a sailboat on the left and a motorboat on the right. In the background, a red building is rendered on a small piece of land against a green sky. The abstract composition is rendered with hard-edge shapes filled with flat vibrant colors. This piece is signed, titled, and dated to the verso and is presented in a white wooden frame.
George Anderson began his formal artistic training at a commercial art school in Quebec and joined the Art Federation of Canada. Later he became an art director for a major Canadian publisher, and soon afterward started his own advertising agency. During 1994, he became an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center. Anderson’s work has been displayed at various institutions including the Noho Gallery, New York; Field Gallery; Martha’s Vineyard; and Cambridge Gallery, Cambridge, England.
