Saim Kolhan Turkish Hand-Painted Tile
Item Details
A hand-painted Îznik ceramic tile by Turkish artist Saim Kolhan (born 1962). This Turkish folk art tile depicts flowers in reds and blues on a white field. The tile is signed to the lower right and is presented on black mounting board with red liner and blue mat surround, under glass in a carved and beveled gold tone frame. There is a sticker to the verso which reads ‘Turkuaz, Turkish Handicraft Arts, Resim & Cerceve’ and a string for mounting.
Saim Kolhan is a Turkish Folk Art painter and helped found a new technique for tile painting using traditional techniques in a new way. Saim has had his art in Folk Art museums around the world. For more information about the artist, please see the link below.
