An original signed Doc Tate Nevaquaya tempera and watercolor painting ‘In Enemy Territory.’ Joyce Lee ‘Doc’ Tate Nevaquaya was a self-taught Comanche artist who created many original paintings such as ‘In Enemy Territory’ in tempera paints and watercolors. This piece depicts an Indigenous man riding a horse with a rifle in hand and wearing a Comanche war bonnet with the artist’s signature to the bottom right. The verso of the painting reads ‘(In Enemy Territory) Original Painting, Painted by a self-taught Comanche Indian artist Doc Tate Nevaquaya.’
Condition
- kept in a protective wrapper, wrapper is ripped in corners so those exposed corners are bent, back is exposed, handwritten information on verso.
