Antique Gorham Silverware Chest
Item Details
An antique Gorham silverware chest. This chest made from birds eye maple wood has silver-toned handles to each side and a single drawer. It was used for storing silverware. The inside lid still has the original light green satin lining with faded gold print that reads ‘Gorham MFG. Co. Sterling Silver Union Square, N.Y.’ The underside of the bottom drawer has embossed in the wood ‘Gorham MFG Co.’ and handwritten next to this is ‘No. 1266 Sept.21st. 1883.’ The current green felted interior is not original.
Condition
- Shows wear consistent with use and age. Original storage compartments for the silverware are missing.
