Carved Wooden Club After a Maori Wahaika
Item Details
A carved wooden club. This is in the style of a wahaika patu of the New Zealand Maori.This features a flatten form with a rounded end that tapers and sweeps down to a narrow stem and then flares to an oval handle. It has been ornamented in a series of hand carvings, with scrollwork and an abstract figural form with inlay abalone eyes. The stem is pierced and a cord is tied through.
