An original contemporary pastoral oil painting on canvas by listed South Korean artist L. Stephano (born 1948). Stephano’s work is often characterized by highly-textured brushstrokes and dramatic lighting, and this piece is a brilliant example of both qualities. The painting depicts a figure with a red head scarf leading a small flock of sheep through a wooded landscape painted in muted neutral shades of paint. It is signed in red to the lower right and presented in a wooden frame with dramatic cast surface embellishments, seamless corners, gold-tone finish, and a hanging wire to the verso.
