An original oil painting on fabric on board from Peru. This retablo is handmade and depicts a saint in a palette of red, green, white, and gold. It is presented in a wood frame with flower and leaf carved crown and a small wood drawer at the base. It has markings in Spanish on the reverse. Pieces like this are typically kept behind an altar in a church or cathedral and are never signed by the artist.
Condition
- the image is faded; some paint is chipping near the face and head of image; some dust and residue all over; the frame shows chips in finish and nicks all over.
