An original John Tuska (1931-1998) cast paper bas-relief sculpture Torso. The piece is made from paper with graphite detailing and presented in a black wooden frame and signed in pencil to the bottom right. An internationally acclaimed artist, Tuska is known for his painterly depictions of nudes via sculptures, paintings, and reliefs and are highly sought after. His work expresses the influence of the late Impressionist movement of French artist Rodin. The Kentucky based artist was an educator at the University of Kentucky, which commissioned him to produce the bronze figure sculptures Illumine.
