Giovanni Camprio Original Oil Painting on Canvas
Item Details
An original oil painting on canvas by 20th century Italian painter Giovanni Camprio (1915-1999). As a child, Camprio moved to Naples with his family, where he fell in love with Naples Harbor and the surrounding area. By his teens he had started painting, using the harbor and sea as his inspiration. His use of the palette knife in his works is distinctive of his style, as is his color palette that includes bright pops of color to items such as flowers and plants. This painting depicts a boat floating in the harbor’s vivid royal blue water as several picturesque Italian villas line the shore. The painting is signed in-wet-paint to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden frame with carved surface embellishments, fly-specked gold tone finish, and off-white linen lining. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
