A pair of colored pencil and graphite drawings on paper titled Ann Arbor Murals by well-listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American; 1904-1997). These drawings depicts a pair of music and art inspired arrangements rendered in blues and browns. The artist’s signature or initials are present to the lower right of each piece. The drawings are presented double matted in a protective sleeve.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
