Frederick Ogden Original Hudson River-Style Oil Painting on Canvas "A Tranquil Stream"
Item Details
An original 1930 oil painting on canvas by well-listed American landscape artist Frederick Ogden (1892 – 1948), titled A Tranquil Stream. This work is clearly heavily-influenced by the Hudson River artists active about fifty years prior; it depicts a small figure seated along the banks of a reflective body of water lined with bushy rows of trees and rolling hills. An illuminated sky glows above the scene, filled with fluffy clouds and small flocks of birds. The painting is signed and dated in black to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden frame with cast arabesque embellishments, seamless corners, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire. The piece is again signed, titled, and labeled ‘New England’ to the verso. More information about the artist can be found below under Additional Information.
