An oil painting on canvas of a pastoral landscape by artist William Richards (British, 19th century). This work features a stream winding through a grassy area filled with foliage and trees. A few cows are visible along the water’s edge as two figures walk along a path toward a house in the middle-ground. Hills and mountains are silhouetted against a cloudy blue sky. The painting is signed in brown to the lower right. It is presented in an ornate gold-tone wood frame with a decadent floral relief design. A metal plate with the artist’s name is affixed to the frame.

- craquelure throughout; some paint flaking; some wear to frame including scratches, chips, stains, and discoloration; small spots of in-painting scattered throughout composition.
