After Alfred Seifert Art Nouveau Oil Pastel
Item Details
A large-scale oil pastel after an oil painting by Alfred Seifert (Czech, 1850–1901) titled A Nymph. This image features a female nude draped in a sheer cloth, one hand holding the end of the drapery and the other hand clutching a scroll. She appears to levitate above a rocky terrain with a lake and mountain in the background under a glowing yellow sky. The medium most closely resembles oil pastel from what can be gathered from observation through the hazy glass. It is signed indecipherably, possibly Edgar, and dated 1900 to the lower left. The piece is housed in a gilt wood frame with reeded column pilasters at each side and neoclassical molding at top. There are hanging rings at back.
