1799 Hand-Colored Etchings After Pu-Quà
Item Details
A set of six hand-colored etchings on rice paper published in London in 1799, based on paintings by seventeenth-century Chinese artist Pu-Quà. These prints depict scenes of Chinese craftsmen and tradesmen at work, including a cap maker and a porter carrying fruit trees. Each print is marked ‘Pu-Quà, Canton, Delin.; Dudley, London, Sculp.; Publiſed May 4, 1799 by W. Miller, Old Bond Street, London,’ and is matted under glass in a gold tone bamboo-style frame with a hanging wire.
Condition
- one print is slightly misaligned in frame; areas of plate marks have yellowed; mats are slightly dirty; glass would benefit from thorough cleaning.
