A pair of Claire Murray hand-hooked pictorial rugs, made of wool in China. Included are a carpet runner and a small area rug. The area rug features an underwater scene with five tropical fish, kelp, coral, and other sea creatures, framed by a border of cresting waves and sand dollars. The palette is various shades of blue, teal, lavender, shades of pink, ivory, and black with green, taupe, shades of yellow, and maroon. The runner features a garden scene with picket fence and three white rabbits amid flowers and greenery over a black field. The top features a diamond-lattice panel of teal and white, while the bottom features a checkerboard panel of teal, blue, and white. The palette is black, white, teal, shades of blue, shades of pink, shades of green, tan, and lavender. Both rugs include the initials ‘CM’ hooked into the front, and both are marked on the reverse.
