A signed bronze sculpture by Victor Gutierrez (Mexico, b. 1950). This stunning bronze depicts a seated woman wearing a large headpiece and holding an empty bowl in her right arm. She is adorned in a simple dress with a ruffle to the full-length hem. The headpiece and dress are rendered in a pale green patina. It bears the artist’s signature in mold to the rear of the base, dated “’87”, and stamped “4-20” beneath the signature.

Victor Gutierrez was born in Mexico City to a family of sculptors who have been creating monuments in Mexico since the 19th century. He is a licensed architect, sculptor, and painter. Victor sculpts mainly in bronze, marble and stone and has created several monuments both in Mexico and abroad. One of his most famous works is Our Lady of the Angels in Dublin, Ireland. His work has been included in over one hundred exhibitions worldwide.
