Early 20th C. Larkin Quartersawn Oak Secretary Desk
Item Details
An early 20th C. quartersawn tiger oak secretry desk by the Larkin Soap Mfg. Co. who produced laundry soap starting in the 1870s; however later produced crockery and furniture from the 1890s to early 1900s. The piece features turned pilasters with striking wood grain display and a panaromic mirror to top. Positioned above a glass-front fretwork cabinet over a slant-front, drop-down writing surface concealing pigeon holes and three drawers. Positioned to the left is a bow-front cabinet with glass-front door and interior shelving. The secretary desk stands overall on lovely scrolled empire front feet as well as key to lock and unlock the drop-down surface. A manufacturer’s label is also affixed to the backside.
