A copy of Tennyson’s Idylls of the King. This edition Alfred Lord Tennyson’s twelve poems on the topic of King Arthur was published in 1889 by Henry Altemus in Philadelphia. The volume has reproductions of the Gustave Doré illustrations that accompanied the initial publication of the poems between 1856 and 1885. The volume also includes an introduction by Henry C. Walsh. The book has an inscription that reads ‘Miss Mary M. Harding, from Grandpa Downs, Christmas, 1890’ on the first page which has bled through to the illustration on the opposite side.
