Vintage Henkel-Harris Mahogany Silver Chest on Stand
Item Details
A vintage Henkel-Harris mahogany silver chest on stand. The case features a rectangular, hinged top opening to a removable tray above lateral-mounted, brass-toned handles. The fall front is embellished with a figured panel with incurvate corners demarcated by lightwood stringing. It also has an inlaid, kite-shaped escutcheon. The front conceals a stack of three drawers with brass-toned, ring pulls. The stand has a single, machine-dovetailed drawer, a serpentine apron, and four cabriole legs ending in pad feet. This item is marked on the inside of the lid ‘Virginia Galleries / Furniture by / Henkel-Harris / Winchester, Virginia’ and ‘Pacific Silvercloth’. It also retains a maker’s stamp and a paper label on the base. The chest comes with its original key.
