A Stan Galli 1954 gouache on board for Weyerhaeuser Advertising. This painting depicts elk on a mountainside. The painting is signed “Stan Galli” in the lower right hand corner. Weyerhaeuser labels on the back give the title as ‘Elk Herd & Dam’. This was in the Weyerhaeuser corporate collection for over 50 years. The painting is housed in a black and white frame and matted in burlap and white. Comes with a framed original proof of the advertisement, which was owned by the Galli family.

Stanley Galli was a prolific Californian illustrator whose work appeared in magazine stories and advertisements from the 1940s to the 1970s. In 1981, he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Frame adding him to a list of members including Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, and Howard Pyle.
