An oil painting on board titled Young Fox Scares Up Some Blue Grouse for Weyerhaeuser Advertising by Stan Galli (1912-2009). This painting depicts a fox chasing three flying blue grouse in a meadow. Directly below the image ‘Young Fox Scares Up Some Blue Grouse’ is written in pencil. At the bottom of the sheet, ‘this could be worked out a little better- might be the kind of picture the outdoorsman likes’ is also written in pencil. This painting was owned by the Galli family for over fifty years. It is presented matted, under glass, in a black wooden frame.
Stanley Galli was a prolific Californian illustrator whose work appeared in magazine stories and advertisements from the 1940s to the 1970s. In 1981, he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Frame adding him to a list of members including Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, and Howard Pyle.
