A pair of antique wood and iron courting candlesticks. The iron has been twisted into a spiral to the center with curved handles and round base and is painted black. Courting candles were used as an approval system when a suitor came to date a mans daughter. The cork or plug is adjusted determinant of how the parent felt about the suitor. “Candle high, then he is my guy. Candle low, ’tis time to go!”
