Item Details

A four-volume set of The Works Of Sir Edwin Landseer. With a history of his art life written by W. Cosmo Monkhouse, these volumes have been cut and multiple steel engravings and woodcuts are missing. Published by Virtue and Company, Limited, London in 1869. Each volume features several plates and text. The volumes are bound in rust-colored cloth with elaborate front cover gilt decorations and black lettering and blind stamped decorations to the back covers. The spines are gilt lettered, and all text edges are gilt.

Condition

The cut books are missing multiple engravings and contain loose engravings. Wear to the covers is consistent with age.
