Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller "ESU" Desk & Return
Item Details
A Mid Century Modern ESU desk & return by Eames for Herman Miller. The two-piece unit is composed of zinc-plated metal, birch, enameled wood, and masonite. The desk features a rectangular, walnut-finished top above an open leg compartment on the left and a stack of two drawers on the right. The black drawer fronts are fitted with silver-toned knobs and the case sides have blue, white, yellow, and red panels, recalling the art of Piet Mondrian. First exhibited publicly by Charles and Ray Eames in 1949, this desk is a classic example of Mid Century Modern design.
Accompanying the desk is a rare, three-drawer return unit. It has a rectangular top in walnut-finished plywood over an open shelf and a stack of three drawers with silver-toned knobs. Both pieces rise on tubular legs ending in black, rubber caps.
