Ricardo Morin Body Color and Graphite on Paper "Platonic Triangulation"

An unframed body color painting and graphite on paper titled Platonic Triangulation by Venezuelan-born artist Ricardo Morin (b. 1954), dated 2008. This work features a large scalene triangle outlined in red; the triangle is overlapped and surrounded by geometric shapes, some two-dimensional and some three-dimensionally rendered. The background is a checkered yellow and white pattern, and additional colors filling some of the shapes including blue, green, gray, and orange. The work is signed and dated in red to the lower right and it remains unframed.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, he received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that often exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
