A watercolor painting on paper titled Self-Portrait by Venezuelan-born artist Ricardo Morin (b. 1954), dated 1998. This work features the artist seated in a chair with his legs crossed as he sketches on paper. A large window in the background of the interior space looks out to another brick building next door. A yellow border is painted on the left and right sides of the composition. The work is signed and dated in pencil to the lower right. Handwriting to the verso also includes the artist’s signature, title, date, medium, dimensions, among other information about the work. Presented under glass with a white mat and simple black wood frame, this work is ready to hang with picture wire to the verso.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, he received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others.
