A Sir Francis Drake Reed brass falling ball clock. This features a unique style of clock mount, with ‘The Franklin Mint, Thwaites & Reed Ltd, England’ tag to the front of the globe. This item commemorates the 400th anniversary of Sir Frances Drake’s circumnavigation of the globe. It features a brass globe with a satin brushed finish with an outline of the continents and the route that Drake followed during his three-year voyage, along with etchings of nautical figures and ships. The encircling globe has a rotating equatorial time band with twelve hours marked in Roman numerals, with lines in between for each five-minute segment. The brass plaque on the dark-stained wood base has an etching of a compass along with assorted nautical engravings. This item is untested and has a keyhole mount to the verso.
