Item Details

A colorful grouping of Chinese and Japanese porcelains. The collection includes a Chinese plate decorated with the God of Longevity riding a deer surrounded by young attendants, one of whom holds a large peach, a popular symbol of longevity. The underside is marked with a six-character Qianlong reign mark, however, it is of late 19th or early 20th-century production. Also included are two Chinese rose medallion plates, one is marked ‘Made in China’; a Japanese bowl glazed in green and decorated with plum blossoms with a ‘Hand Painted Japan’ seal affixed to the underside; a Chinese vase glazed in a rich orange-red and a vignette with two ducks swimming near a lotus blossom, marked ‘Made in Jingdezhen’ (景德鎮製 Jingdezhen zhi); a Japanese lidded urn; and a Japanese Kutani ware chocolate pot, marked ‘Kutani’ (九谷) to the underside and presented without a lid.
